OUR STORY

OUR HISTORY

From humble beginnings…

Founded in 2013 by Scott Chapman, Champ Resources Pty Ltd was established as a family-owned and operated recruitment and labour hire business, based in Rockhampton.

As a trade qualified boilermaker with 20 years’ experience managing labour hire businesses, Scott’s industry knowledge, local labour market understanding, and long-term relationships, saw Champ quickly establish itself in the recruitment and labour hire sector throughout Central Queensland.

To a reputable provider of workforce management…

Champ’s success was built firmly on a foundation of strong values, and a focus on delivering exceptional customer service. This service standard was supported operationally by Scott’s daughter, Matilda.

Partnering with clients in the planning phase of projects to formulate recruitment, selection, mobilisation and onboarding strategies, Matilda’s professional approach saw Champ evolve from a Labour Hire provider to a Workforce Management Partner of clients throughout Australia.

By 2015, Champ Resources had expanded interstate, servicing contracts predominately in the Mining, Manufacturing and Construction sectors.  Scott’s vision for the business was to be a ‘One Vendor’ solution for his clients, and this aspiration fostered the development of complementary business units to broaden the service offering of the Group.

Our mission is to build partnerships and make a difference by providing game changing service solutions, underpinned by #teamchamp values.

We deliver real business outcomes through strong partnerships. Success is realised through team work, and we do our best work when we partner with clients who share our values and maintain a commitment to open communication and cooperation.

Using our strengths to support communities…

That same year, Cyclone Marcia devastated Central Queensland.  Local businesses came together to support the community and Champ was able to utilise the newly formed business units to provide Security Services (licence no: )Traffic Management (licence no: ) and administrative support staff to the Australian Red Cross and Government departments.

And broaden our horizons…

Champ Services Pty Ltd was established in 2017, providing fabrication, hydraulics, welding and site services. The Gracemere Workshop supports the wider Group along with existing manufacturing and mining customers, and new clients in farming and agriculture. Champ Services Pty Ltd trades as News Contracting and Logistics and Ryco 24/7 Capricornia, being franchisee for the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast region. In addition to the Gracemere workshop, Champ Services has expanded to include a number of project sites in Mackay and Nebo.

Looking to leverage existing capabilities, Champ realised that an opportunity existed for a local competitor in the Facilities Management sector and in 2018, commenced contract works with clients in Real Estate and Aged Care facilities, undertaking cleaning, repairs, and maintenance. The Facilities Management division grew quickly and Champ Facilities Management Pty Ltd (QBCC Licence no:15195374) was established to service large scale mining and commercial contracts.

With a bright future ahead, we’re ready to build more #gochamp partnerships…

In 2020, Scott Chapman, handed the reins to daughter Matilda Chapman, who together with partner Zane Thiele, drive innovative solutions to clients, while upholding the values and service standards that have defined the company’s success to date.
